Mariel de Leon has unleashed her ‘lioness’ side on Twitter.
For the newly-crowned Miss International Philippines, it’s important to always choose your country over the crown. The hell she care if she lost her crown? At least, she has never lost her voice to encourage these blind followers of the government to wake up.
The 23-year-old Mariel aired her sentiments on Twitter over the appointment of Mocha Uson’s Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) secretary.
For those who don’t know who Mocha is, she is a die-hard President Duterte supporter. She even publicly announced that she is a “proud Dutertard,” or the one who has been blindly following the president.
The former sex blogger would block the one who opposes her on her Facebook page. Thus, majority of the people’s comments in her post agree with her opinions.
Going back to Mariel, the beauty queen started by retweeting Jan Belmonte’s tweet that says: “Our government is legitimizing its fake news campaign.Wala na talagang hiya, harap-harapan ang lokohan.”
Bumubwelo lang pala si ate n’yo. Until…
“What is happening Philippines,” her first tweet, expressing her disapproval with Mocha’s appointment.
The beauty queen was asked by her fan, “What’s your view about this, Queen M?” Mariel answered, “I love my country so it breaks my heart to know someone like her got a position in the govt.”
She continued, “There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place. There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place.”
“‘Someone like her?’ How do you define ‘her?’ another fan asked. To which Mariel responded, “Biased and disrespectful. She insults those who are against her.”
She added, “I’m not for [Mocha], I’m not for the other side (whatever that may be), I am for the truth and I am for my country.”
Before she ended burning Mocha (figuratively), Mariel tweeted her wish for the country: “I hope that change will come. And I hope that I can use my voice and my platform to be part of that change.”
In the end, she emphasized, “Fake and biased news will just bring our country down deeper than the dirt on our feet. Politics and corruption is poison for the soul of our country.”
Country over crown
Although she has won the Miss International Philippines title, Mariel has never shown that she’s afraid to lose the crown — a very brave woman, indeed!
She even shared her belief on why we, Filipinos, are not evolving: “Before some people care more about the superficial than what really matters. It’s always Country over Crown.”
She also revealed that people were messaging her, saying she shouldn’t speak about politics if she wants to win as Miss International. Thus, she asked her opposers, “So para sa inyo, Crown over Country?”
Mariel then fearlessly introduced herself: “I’m not the type na puro showbiz lang. I’m not afraid to be criticized for it.”
And stressed, “There are so much issues happening in our country now so I’m glad that I have the platform now to voice out my opinions.
“See, beauty pageants aren’t just for ‘standing there and looking pretty.’”
Aside from Mariel, another smart and witty woman has been voicing her opinions about politics eversince. She is none other than Ethel Booba.
Go, Mariel and Ethel! Prevent that b*tch and her bigoted followers from infiltrating Twitter.
